bibguitarheroes.jpg the bibgang is starting a band! and true to our can’t-play-a- single-note form, we’re slinging on (seriously) les paul, kramer and fender axes in full confidence. and being of generation www, of course we’re talking ps3 guitar heroes here, HELLO. don’t be misled by the pic here though, as we aren’t sure of who’s gonna play what yet. hmm, maybe we’ll throw in a dj into the mix too. so watch out for the bibgang’s – mostly unplanned – gigs at a spot near you. soon!

it took approx half an hour before everyone was convinced that he didn’t just pack up and leave their briefs untouched (see what heartless spirit-killing “i only want my job done” kind of ppl y’all have become!) but was instead hard at work away from the office on the honda print/tvc shoot.

just how hot was it shooting in the middle of nowhere? check out both chee wee and noelle’s tan lines and you’ll get an idea.

(the all-new honda jazz hits the roads soon, and the dailies, cinema, online and telly sometime in august, not to mention official launch events and roadshows etc. the usual bates141 trademark ttl stuff :) )

frogporridge.jpgrandom pic by random contributor. hang on, is that our affable md chauffeur sam, spotted in jalan alor with, with, yes it’s that frog porridge thingy! can anyone tell us what it’s called and where exactly to locate this stall on the mouth-watering alor strip? hmm, and since we’re talking abt food, let’s hear some suggestions on some must-go places for our world-famous, not terribly healthy, malaysian makan-makan national pasttime. happening hokkien mee, outstanding nasi lemak, super sushi spread, hainanese western food, fried reptiles, etc etc… where do we find em? /drool

(p/s: we’re giving away a limited diy-print bibtee (!) to the first person who comes up with a yummy-licious destination/dish that no one in the bibgang has tried before.)

most events are usually a long drawn out (and admittedly painful) process that involves much planning and sweating. but they do yield results which we can proudly call our own. there are some hitches that have caught our attention.

as much as we applaud the desire to change (”change” being the new bates141 buzzword) there is a responsibility to properly utilise the digital power that everyone is harping on about.

take the f&n freestylz event for instance. in all fairness, clients tried to break away from traditional atl territory with a nuffnang/bloggers collaboration, but it goes downhill from there.

as you know urbanscapes 2008 is about 2 days away. and if you don’t, you’re just not “with it”, dawg. tongue in chic’s fashion editorial-styled countdown should have clued you in. marketed as “user-generated creative arts festival”, it’s undeniably trendy, yet carefully planned appeal to the mass with indie, hiphop, folk, rock and electroclash performances raging on throughout the day, while art mini-exhibits, film screenings, readings round up the stragglers from the artsy/fartsy scene. we predict a frenzied crowd at the fashion/ shopping bazaar at lakeside.

with the petrol hike and all, the organisers have been considerate enough to provide half-hourly shuttle service for the needy commuters smart enough to realise that parking will be a real %@#$. you can check out the schedule and map.

for more information, just do a cursory search on google, the event has been well-hyped. and this time, due mostly to the shopping we bet, feels surprisingly genuine.

you can guarantee this bib’er will be hovering around the shopping booths all day.

anythingwhatever.jpgnot a new idea, but you have to give it to the bravery (so fearless) of the team behind the newly launched drinks manufacturer (carbonated drinks and juices).

anything whatever” comes in two generic designs as the only differentiator. make your choice of juice or fizz and then throw surety out the window. grab an “anything” and be prepared for cola, cola lemon, apple, (the mysteriously named) fizz up, cloudy lemon or root beer; “whatever” reads like caffeine junkies heaven: ice lemon tea, peach tea, jasmine green tea, white grape tea, apple tea and chrysanthemum tea.

we aren’t greatly fond of the communications (you can check it out on the site). it’s a little expected for our tastes. yet no one can really deny this as being anything less than a valiant effort to break new ground in the country.

and “whatever,” could be the tongee retort to would-be detractors anyway.
