an impressive lineup of international and local artists comes with a ticket of equal heavyweight proportions. for an epic music fest (think our version of woodstock sans muddy naked hippies), patrons were willing to fork out 200 smackeroos a ticket. we aren’t talking the skinflint bunch who dropped by the free st. paddy’s day event. the rain did nothing to dampen spirits, in fact it probably gave concert-goers a story to parrot for the next 3 years or so. “it was raining, but we didn’t care. we were rockin’ it so hard. could you feel the love, homes?” kudos to organisers for having an eclectic mix of bands r’n'b legend… john legend, local ska favourites gerhana ska cinta, indie kids twilight action girl, check the full list below and weep. the only thing the bib folks have to say, is “pick a less aneurysm-inducing location, next time aite?”

for the less informed non-irish, march 17 was st. patrick’s day. never a bunch to shy away from life-changing trivia, we did a cursory scan of its wiki entry and realised “kiss me, i’m irish!” our st. paddy’s day was being held at kiara sunshine, coincidentally overlapping sunburst kl 2008 at the kiara equestrian club. free drinks, mechanical bull, space ball, fire-eaters, hot all-girl violinist troupe, zimboyz, and a strangely un-irish lineup of munchies, all courtesy of close friend, sir alec guinness. 3 mechanical bull rides, 2 space balls and a few drinks into the night, suitably buzzed, we wondered if you’d get lynched in dublin drinking hoegaarden?

any self-respecting trendy indie kid makes sure they’ll be seen at all lapsap gatherings. not simply because it’s hip (and it is) but probably also for the beer and xu and blink’s trippy beats. the fact that you’ve seemingly walked into an episode of cheers (”everybody knows your name”) doesn’t hurt either. this is where we’ll sign off with a chirpy call-to-action: don’t miss all-you-can-listen-to rubbish at the next lapsap party!
